Resumen
En este trabajo se expone la situación del melocotón en España y la evolución de las producciones según tipologías de fruto (melocotón, nectarina, pavía). Se describen los avances de la mejora genética en los últimos años. Finalmente se ha expuesto de forma resumida las características de las variedades más destacables en los grupos donde la innovación ha sido más importante: la nectarina de carne amarilla y de carne blanca, así como el melocotón plano o “paraguayo”.

Abstract
The varietal innovation in nectarine and flat peach. In this paper, the situation of the peach in Spain and the evolution of the productions according to fruit typologies (peach, nectarine, pavia), as well as the advances of the genetic improvement in the last years, are presented. The characteristics of the more interesting varieties of the groups where the innovation has been more important: the yellow flesh nectarine and the white one, as well as the flat peach or “Paraguayan”, are also described.
