RESUMEN
La viticultura heroica representa el 5% de la viticultura mundial, debido a la particularidad de sus características de cultivo: zonas de montaña, por encima de los 700 metros y con fuerte pendiente. En 1986, investigadores del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) iniciaron un estudio en la zona vitivinícola del suroccidente del Principado de Asturias, con el objetivo de localizar las variedades autóctonas, potenciar su conservación y comercialización para la elaboración de vinos de gran calidad. Fruto de este trabajo, se recuperaron las siguientes variedades autóctonas: Albarín Blanco, Carrasquín Tinto, Albarín Negro, Verdejo Negro. Este trabajo fue la base para la aprobación de la Indicación Geográfica Protegida Vinos de Calidad de Cangas, contribuyendo a la consolidación del sector vitivinícola asturiano.

ABSTRACT
Recovery of heroic viticulture in region of Asturias (Spain). The heroic viticulture represents 5% of the world viticulture, due to the particularity of its cultivation characteristics: mountainous areas, over 700 meters and high slope. In 1986, researchers of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) initiated a study in the winegrowing region of the southwestern of Asturias, with the aim to locate the autochthonous varieties, to promote their conservation and commercialization for the production of high quality wines. Resulting of this study the following autochthonous varieties were recovered: Albarín Blanco, Carrasquín Tinto, Albarín Negro, Verdejo Negro. This work was the base for the approval of the Geographical Protected Indication of High Quality Wines of Cangas, contributing to the consolidation of the winegrowing region of Asturias.
