Abstract
Qualitative response of Tempranillo variety, gobelet trained and grown in semiarid conditions, to the irrigation and the variation of level of irrigation. The study investigates the effect of water regime on grape yield and evolution of components of the must, between veraison and harvest, in traditional Tempranillo gobelet trained, grown in the semi-arid area of the Duero valley. The contribution of irrigation, which has produced a significant increase of yield, has variably affected the composition of the berry, highlighting the increase of ºBrix and pH in the treatments with lower water availability and the highest concentration of IPT and total and extractable anthocyanins in the non irrigated vines, especially when the level of annual yield was low, as in 2002, while in the situation of higher level of yield, the effects have been diminished or invalidated. In any case, the response has been clearer when moving from no irrigation to small irrigation than when increasing the level of irrigation.
Key words: Anthocyanins, Poliphenols, Water regime, Yield, Vitis vinifera.
